At Moor Park High School, the Key Stage 4 (KS4) Computing curriculum includes the OCR Cambridge National in IT qualification, which focuses on developing students’ understanding of key IT concepts and their application in an increasingly digital world. Students learn how to design and create effective, user-focused IT solutions, exploring areas such as data handling and emerging technologies.
Connections to prior learning from KS3 ensure that students build on their understanding of digital systems, data and problem-solving, providing a strong foundation for both coursework (NEA) and real-world application. Through engaging and practical lessons, students develop the ability to apply their knowledge appropriately for different purposes and audiences.
Using a hands-on, applied approach, we develop students’ practical, creative and analytical skills, encouraging them to think logically and critically while working on real-world scenarios. Students will plan, design, test and evaluate IT products, building independence and confidence in skills that are transferable to further study and employment.
Students also explore the wider impact of digital technologies on individuals, organisations and society. This course provides an excellent foundation for students considering careers in IT, business, or the wider digital sector, supporting progression into further education and employment.
