Geography
Year 7, 8 and 9
Geography is a dynamic and contemporary subject. Throughout Years 7-9 students will explore the interconnectedness of human and physical geography, exploring how physical processes and human actions shape the world around us. Students will be given opportunities to think critically, produce reasoned arguments and interpret geographical data to help them make sense of geographical topics and issues. Using regional case studies such as south Asia, east Africa and Russia and revisiting some of the same places across the curriculum in different contexts, students will have a deeper geographical understanding of these regions.

Year 10 and 11
At GCSE students follow the AQA GCSE Geography specification. Building on from KS3 at KS4 students develop knowledge and understanding of the complex interactions between physical processes and human interactions. Places are studied at a range of scales from local to global, some of which, students will have prior knowledge from KS3 to build upon. The GCSE curriculum is structured so that human and physical topics are woven throughout the two years to allow students to revisit knowledge and concepts in different contexts. Students will also build on their GIS skills to explore the ever-changing world from tracking hurricanes to exploring coastal management strategies. Geography prepares students to think critically of the world around them and consider the viewpoints of different stakeholders in society when studying contemporary issues.
